Japanese film Turn Over to be screened for free, Feb. 18, 2007

   Japan Foundation Los Angeles office presents Japanese film Turn Over at Aratani/Japan America Theatre in Little Tokyo on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. The film will be screened with English subtitle. Admission free. But tickets required. Call for reservations at (213) 680-3700

 

   In an old Kyoto neighborhood, the everyday serenity of an elderly artisan and his ailing wife are disrupted by the arrival of a magic-loving university student. Their chance encounter sets off a chain reaction that brings change for all.

The moving love story features Shiho Fujimura (Nemuri Kyoshiro Samurai series), Asahi Kurizuka (of long-time TV series” Abarenbo Shogun” fame), and Toshiki Kashu as the college student.

   Turn Over – An angel is coming on a bicycle was directed by Keiichi Nomura, written by Keiichi Nomura, Kyoko Ogasawara, Rikishi Yamada, and Tetsuo Yamada. Actors included Shiho Fujimura, Asahi Kurizuka, Toshiki Kashu, Meibi Yamanouchi, Mike Ikenobou, Osamu Kitayama, Hiromi Ichida, and Kaoru Fujisawa. The film was produced by Nomura Planning and Turn Over Partners.

 

  Film director Keiichi Nomura was born in Kyoto in 1946. Graduated from Nihon University Art Department, he joined Daiei’s Kyoto studios in 1968 as assistant director. After he worked with such leading film directors such as Nagisa Oshima, Kenji Misumi, Kazuo Mori and Satsuo Yamamoto, he went freelance in 1971 and directed a number of publicity films.

 

   Also Nomura established a production company, Nomura Planning, to produce and direct feature-length films for theatrical release.
  Nomura’s works include: "Mori no Mukogawa" (The Other Side of the Forest) (1988), "Manatsu no Shonen" (A Boy in High Summer) (1991), "The Hollywood" (1998).
